Ron Hartman I came to Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California in 1968, where I am
a Professor of Astronomy and Director of the Planetarium. The planetarium offers
public and school programs, supports academic astronomy instruction, and houses
the R.N. Hartman Meteorite
Collection in its museum display area. Telephone: (909) 594-5611 Extension

teaching collection. As not everything this is needed, a retail site as been
established to provide an outlet for excess material that may be on hand, and
also to provide funding for maintaining the museum collection. In this regard,
a good representation of different classes of meteorites, quality thin-sections,
tektites, shattercones and impact materials are offered, from time to time,
for both beginning and advanced collectors. To access my website: www.meteorite1.com

I began collecting meteorites as a student at UCLA in the 60's. I studied METEORITICS
under Dr. F. C. Leonard, who was one of the early pioneers in the science we
today call METEORITICS, and who inspired my life-long interest. I have been
buying, finding, trading, cutting, and etching meteorites since that time. My
private collection has grown into a "teaching and museum collection"
which I maintain at Mt. San Antonio College for display and study by my Astronomy
students. I currently have several hundred specimens representing many different
classes of meteorites. A number of unique tektite forms and shatter cones are
included in the collection. In 1963 I was fortunate in discovering the LUCERNE
VALLEY strewn field, the 20th meteorite 'find' in California, while investigating
dry lakes for meteorites. The investigation continues. My latest LV meteorite
discovery was on March 30, 1999. Check my LUCERNE VALLEY REASEACH STREWNFIELD
